Connecticut Beach Skate
Met at Westport Station (Metro-North) at 11:07 then skated Westport, Southport & Fairfield Connecticut shore and then hit the beach.
The route was hilly, but had wonderful green and water views.

Nyack Skate Met at Columbus Circle at 11:00 and skated north to GWB (George Washington Bridge). After the bridge, skated north on 9W, where beautiful scenary was enjoyable. The route was hilly, but not as much as I expected. Because of the great weather - not too hot, not too humid - 28 miles skate was not a "killer skate", instead was a totally pleasant experience. Arrived at the destination (one of the skater's house) at around 14:30 and had a pizza & pool party. Came home by a bus "9A". Nyack is a name of the village north of NYC by the Hudson River. No Rain (Charley) Tunred down an invite to "Skate Boston", stayed in NYC. It was supposed to be stormy day according to weather forecast due to "Charley", but is not. Skated West Side Path in the morning (8:30AM-10AM). Less people, cool weather, clear air, all made me happy. Then went to Central Park and skated "loop". Having had a lunch @ home, went West Side Path & skated more in the afternoon. Detected unstable air condition, so quit skating after a little while. Intended to skate 30 miles today, but could not make it. Total mileage was 25miles (40km). :: DATA :: Skates: TR Mag 3 Route: West Side Path (Battery r/t), Central Park Run: 40.0 km. Comfortable Skate Skated "West Side Path" in the early evening. Met a new friend P and we skated together. The skating speed was very favorable and comfortable - I like skating fast and so does he. Big Apple Roll 2004 (7/30 to 8/1/04) Big Apple Roll, the largerst skate event in NYC has succesfully finished. Approx. 300 skaters from all over the world were skatiing NYC. Day 1 - Friday, July 30, 2004 Registration started at 15:30 in the Skyline Hotel(W49th St. on 10th Ave.), where I as a committee member helped a little bit.
19:00 - 21:40 / "Pioneer Skate" - skated from hotel - west side path (by the Hudson River) - Central Park - Fifth Avenue - Times Square - China Town - Little Italy - SoHo led by Rich. Mileage = 10.1miles Skate ended at the restaurant named "Pioneer". The food there was exellent, just not enough, though... Ruffle prize drawing followed by dinner, of course I did not win anything. Left restaurant at 23:00 and skated back to hotel, then went home. 24:00 - 03:30 / "Missionary Skate" - very aggressive midnight skate led by Eric. I did not join this but 35 people skated in the beginning and finished 10 people. Day 2 - Saturday, July 31, 2004 11:00 - 15:00 / "Triborough Skate" - skated from hotel - cut 50's st. to eastside - 59th Bridge - Queens - Brooklyn - Brooklyn Bridge - Manhattan led by Ed. After Thai Lunch (included) served in the ball room of the hotel, had a Pool Party at the penthouse pool of the hotel. Ruffle Drawing #2.
19:00 - 21:00 / "Spiderman Skate" - skated from hottel to midtown through downtown Manhattan to visit buildings shown in the movie "Spiderman". There was a Spiderman who skated with us, too.
Day 3 - Sunday, August 1, 2004 Rain ! Oh well, the major skates were scheduled in the first two days, so, today would be the best day for a rainy weather... 12:00 -14:00 / Lunch at the hotel ball room (instead of scheduled picninc lunch) followed by Ruffle Drawing #3. I did not win anything, of course. People started departing. What a great weekend ! The event was total success :) The weather became clear in the afternoon, so skated solo on the west side path. Long Island Skate Bash Had a great park & beach skate in Long Island.
Met at LIRR Massapequa station at 11:04 and skated through Bethpage State Park, Farmingdale, Massapequa, and Wantagh. Then skate continued down to Jones Beach.
Spent about 2 hours and a half on the beach, skated to one of a skater's house for a barbeque. There were veggie burgers for vegans, too. Total mileage was 30miles (48km). :: DATA :: Skates: TR Mag 3 Course: Long Island Run: 48.0 km. Weather: Temp. 81F (27C). Winds 10 mph, Events Clear, Humidity 46%.
